Digital Marketing - From Seed to Sale: IBO Summit Recap
“The Future Is Bright Blue” was the theme of this year’s International Blueberry Summit, and I couldn’t agree more. At the 2019 gathering in Vancouver, I had the opportunity to speak to over 400 industry leaders on how to leverage digital marketing to promote their product and the blueberry industry.
Over the past year and a half, the Social T. team has had the pleasure of collaborating with the BC Blueberry Council to support their social media and public relations initiatives. Through this experience, we’ve solidified that digital marketing can be used to highlight every part of the blueberry journey. We help tell the story from seed to sale through Instagram, Pinterest, Email Newsletters, Collaborations and Events. Social media, in particular, is a key piece in the digital marketing roadmap.
Here are three ways digital marketing can help promote product, such as fresh and frozen blueberries, for the industry as a whole:
#1: AWARENESS
Bring attention to your product and industry by building a reputable online presence.
A consistent online presence reminds consumers that the product is available year-round, transitioning frozen season seamlessly with fresh. Ensure you have high-quality imagery and mix media to enhance and support your coherent theme across all social platforms.
#2: AMPLIFICATION
Did you know that a customer has to see a digital advertisement seven times before remembering it?
Broadcast a specific message to local (and/or international) customers through online ads, word of mouth, and media.
#3: ENGAGE
Stay top-of-mind and continue the momentum with events and community involvement.
A perfect example of this is the upcoming 10-day #GoBlueSouthGran event hosted by BC Blueberries Council and the South Granville Business Improvement Association. From July 18th to 28th, a number of South Granville’s restaurants will feature BC blueberries in special menu items. In addition, the street will be transformed with hues of blue as various retailers celebrate blueberries in their own ways.
The first event of its kind, #GoBlueSouthGran not only showcases BC blueberries at the forefront throughout the event, but is also a great public relations opportunity to bring awareness to all the local blueberry farms in the province.
