Ready to fire your social media agency?
'Tis the season of expectation setting.
In a recent strategy session, a client asked what they should expect from their social media management team. They wanted to know if they were getting enough value from their partnership. I needed to dig deeper to understand what responsibilities were defined from the get-go so I could determine what their marketing partners were providing and what my client could do next.
Here's what I asked:
Did the SM team provide a plan?
Did the SM team share what they needed from your team to do their best work?
Did the SM team commit to providing ongoing creative guidance through campaigns, contests, brand, and communications input?
Did the SM team commit to providing visual assets like videos and photography?
Did the SM team clearly define what elements were an add-on, such as out-of-scope projects or planning meetings?
An organization often secures a social media team to take over "community management"; this can be categorized as providing content, posting, and engagement. But is that going to be enough to meet your marketing goals?
It might be time to plan for social media success before you pump more time and energy into the status quo.
Get a strategy, so you know where you're going. Then, train your team so they know how to amplify your message correctly.
