University of Iowa JPEC Guest Speaker

I was invited to speak as part of Women Entrepreneurship Week at the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at The University of Iowa: https://www.iowajpec.org/events/WEW

I shared my entrepreneurial journey and how I founded my social media marketing company, Social T.

Women Entrepreneurship Week is an annual celebration of female founders and entrepreneurs across the world. Last year more than 240 universities and colleges in 32 countries and 49 states, plus D.C., in the U.S. organized Women's Entrepreneurship Week events on their respective campuses. #WE2020

I attended the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) between 2004-2008. It is the hub for entrepreneurship education and outreach at the University of Iowa.

Through a generous gift from John and Mary Pappajohn, the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at University of Iowa was established in 1996. As a part of the Tippie College of Business, Iowa JPEC has grown its influence in the entrepreneurial community and inspired thousands of entrepreneurs to start a business in Iowa. Today, they’re committed to helping every entrepreneur, no matter their level of expertise, to start something great.

I can attest to the powerful impact of this business entrepreneurship program at U of Iowa, the courses were my favourite to attend and inspired me to get to where I am today!

Tara was a wonderful speaker and gave such relevant advice! The students really got a lot out of it.

With COVID and most of our programs, classes and events being online, we have had trouble engaging some of the students. I was so happy to see 40 of them on our call today and so engaged. I really appreciate the time and thoughtfulness Tara put into this.

Thanks again and hope we can work together again soon!

Hi Tara! I got to watch your talk today and was blown away by how much I connected with it. I’ve been doing entrepreneurial things since I was little, but I never really thought about it until I got to college. I’m a psych major, but I own @benedictsbasket which is essentially like an online farmer’s market where anyone can buy and sell locally sourced products directly from their house. I’m actually in the middle of updating my vision board and your talk gave me lots of new ideas to put on it. Overall, thank you so much for your wonderful advice and inspiring story!
